Broadway Brews Project #1: Meet the HamilTeam!

Brew Crew Assemble! Welcome to the Broadway Brews Project: The Happy Hour Guys are putting together Hamilton an American Musical and Gun Hill Brewing of the Bronx, to brew a special one-off #CraftBeer for charity!

It's after showtime at 5 Napkin Burger in Midtown Manhattan, and members of the cast of Hamilton, The Happy Hour Guys, and Gun Hill Brewing meet up for great food and drink to discuss the recipe of their beer, what they might name it, and most importantly, who they'll be raising money for. Let's meet our brain trust!

HUGE thanks to our friends at 5 Napkin Burger Midtown for hosting us for the evening, and to Justin 'Squigs' Robertson, Dane Agostinis, Jeffry Denman and Ben Leibert on the lenses!

Four Recipes Artfully Mingled in New Limited Edition Bourbon

Four Roses 2011 Limited Edition Small Batch Blooms

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (August 15, 2011) – Four Roses Distillery is adding to its collection of limited edition small batch bourbon expressions this September which mingles four recipes – aged between 11 and 13 years - of the distillery’s 10 unique recipes.

The 2011 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon presents aromas of honeysuckle, toasted oak, almond toffee, and spicy hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, with subtle fruit flavors of dried apricot, ripe plum, plus brown sugar, honey and dark chocolate covered cherries.

Four Roses’ limited edition bourbon offerings have historically sold out quickly and been highly acclaimed by spirits critics.  Last year’s 2010 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon was rated third by Paul Pacult amongst the top 140 Five-Star Rated Spirits of the world in his renowned liquor industry publication The Spirit Journal.

Astoria, NY

Mark, the history guy here. My neighborhood, Astoria, NY, has seen a drastic change in drinking options in recent times. Once the home of a few working class bars (which I love) and the odd Irish or Mexican spot (which I also love), I've seen choices, great choices, pop up on many street corners.

I write this while siting in Hell's Gate Social, an almost unmarked neighborhood spot with a speakeasy feel and a killer bourbon list. And nightly specials, including $3 drafts on Mondays. Yesterday I tried new beers at MexiQ, a Latin fusion restaurant with 48 tap lines of craft beer.

One of my favorites, Vesta Trattoria, features amazing food and local wine on tap. Sunswick, 5 Napkin Burger, The Astor Room, Pachanga Patterson, Club 21, and more have all joined the local lineup and feature craft beverages and culturally specific cuisine.

All this is to say, we live in exciting times. There have never been so many choices and such quality do adventurous drinkers. A a happy Hour Guy it's awfully exciting. Man, we have some work to do! Go explore!
