Video #74: Quality Control at Flying Dog.
How good is your beer? Is it good enough to be put in the Penalty Box, all in the name of Quality? In part 2 of the Flying Dog episodes, The Guys venture into the Quality Assurance Lab at the Frederick Maryland facility and learn from the very very smart people what goes in to getting you the best, freshest beer possible. Thanks to Matt and Gwen for a really cool peek behind the scenes of some excellent beer.

Do you want guys who think Dogs can Fly making your beer? Of course you do! The Happy Hour Guys make a stop in Frederick, Maryland, at the Flying Dog Brewing Company, home of such dynamite brews as the Gonzo Imperial Porter, Snake Dog IPA, Old Scratch Amber and Tire Bite Golden to name just a few. Video #69: Ellicott Mills Brewing, MAN CAVE!
Step into a building that's over 100 years old and what would you expect to find? History, for sure. Great stories, yes. Possibly even a ghost or two. But also great food, homemade beer, and the coolest Man (and Woman) Cave ever? Welcome to the in Ellicott City Maryland, home to all of those things and more. Mark and Jimmy spend an afternoon with these fine folks, taste some great beers and tour everything from an old hand-operated elevator requested by the Smithsonian to a real Superhero's Awesome Lair. Cheers!
Video #67: The Civilization of Beer!
Beer may have been responsible for Civilization itself. Is Civilization responsible for beer? In Samuel Merritt’s case, it is. Mark and Jimmy make a stop at the Blind Tiger Alehouse in the West Village of Manhattan to interview Samuel and his Beer Education Consulting Company. In addition to advising many corporate clients and beer fans, Samuel also offers incredible beer appreciation classes at Manhattan’s Institute of Culinary Education several times a year. Can fans of The Happy Hour Guys get in on those? Um, in a word, yes. Watch to the end of the episode!
Video #66: Solving O'Neill's! (Murder in Manasquan.)
Jimmy and Mark make a stop in Manasquan, NJ and investigate the only unsolved murder in the towns history with the aid of several pints of the best poured Guinness theyve ever seen. Also providing assistance are some great stories, incredible sushi, stars, funny and engaging people, music, games... and just a few blocks from the beach. Sound like heaven? Close... its ONeills.
Video #65: The Guys, Lou, and The Brazen Head.
The Guys learn this lesson: Sooner or later, everyone should know someone like Lou. Meet Lou Sones, Managing Parter and onsite boss for the Brazen Head, one of the homiest Brooklyn bars weve come across (with a very impressive beer, scotch and bourbon list!) Lou leads Mark and Jimmy on a tour of the Brazen Head, which admittedly has a strange name with a fantastic pedigree; the Brazen Head also features some great year-round events including Cask Ale festivals (three a year) and their Spring Clam Shuck. This years Clam Shuck is on April 18th (saturday) from 5-10 PM, and the Spring Cask Fest is on May 1-3rd. No visit to Brooklyn should be complete without a stop at the Brazen Head. Cheers!
